Next up: Think Outside Summits (Toronto and Montreal)

think outside summits

Best. Weekend. Ever.

Do you have an awesome idea to get the next generation outside? Bring your ideas to life at one of the MEC Outdoor Nation Think Outside Summits, all-expenses-paid weekends happening in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

Get fired up by inspiring speakers, local entrepreneurs and a panel of experts to help make your idea a reality. MEC Outdoor Nation will help support the top ideas, as judged by our panel – up to $5000 per project! And we’ll be topping it off with fun, anyone-can-do-it activities outside and a starry camp-out in MEC tents.

Want more details?

Last year we hosted 150 people in Toronto and Montreal. We slacklined, paddleboarded, rode bikes and did yoga; hung out with MEC Ambassadors Kalob Grady and Hugues Fournel; gave away goodies from Burton, United by Blue, Tentree and Prana; and, most importantly, between workshops, speakers and project time – everyone shared their brilliant ideas.

Two days of what now?

  • Shape and refine your brilliant project with input from our panel of experts

  • Get insight from people who’ve been there, in workshops led by local entrepreneurs

  • A give-us-all-you-got pitch session to apply for funding

  • The big reveal: the top ideas are awarded grants, as judged by our panel – up to $5000 per project

Where do I start?

  • To be accepted to the Summit, you must have a project idea – this way we can spend our time together helping make it a reality

  • Consider how your idea introduces new communities to an outdoor activity/activities

  • Is your idea a resource, an event, a program, or a network of people? Or something totally different? There is no wrong answer

How are the grantees chosen?

  • The way your project gets a new group or groups of people outside and active is the #1 priority here. Who is missing from the outdoor spaces you love the most?

  • Is your project inclusive of as many people as possible?

  • Is it unique, inspired, innovative and off-the-charts creative?
